Thought I`d share a semi-old article I ran across about some possible advancements in the treatment/ possible “cure” for allergies. Personally found it a bit uplifting and hopefully for the future since imo not a lot of advancements are taking place. Cliffs: The article was published in 2017, but at the University of Queensland successfully
level 2 Hmm. Now that you mention it I did.
I used to work at a pet shop and am allergic to mites. My boss would always make sure I was scheduled for animal delivery day so I could handle the new animals and immediately tell if they had mites or not and needed to be sent back. Customers heard about this too and started
That streak across the thumb web makes it look like it could be urticaria, a sort of allergic reaction skin condition. I’m still relatively new to it myself, but mine is due to physical stimuli like pressure and possibly heat (and maybe even cold). That being said, if you can bear going for a week
level 1 I’m betting on the pea protein, I knew a guy that couldn’t eat peanuts or peas due to cross sensitivity among legumes.
So I’ve never been officially tested but for the past four years every time I eat red meat I get violently ill puking non stop for hours. I haven’t eaten pork or beef in years but tonight I had gummies and forgot to check if they had gelatin in them. Then this happened a few
Everyone, grandparents, parents and children alike are just told to “put up with it” and wait till the allergy season is over. But that doesn’t make it right at all. This article and many others suggests there’s clear evidence that allergies and depression and other mental illnesses co exist, and ragweed pollen exposure has been
Does anyone wants to share their current frustrations in finding the right specialists or the right solutions? I would appreciate if you can share your top frustrations regarding your allergic patient journey. Do you think you need an integrative and long term holistic approach is needed? Please indicate where you’re located. I’m working on a
I work in an ophthalmologist office. Looks like a style infection and probably traveled from one eye to the other. Since there’s no “head” to drain yet, you’ll need an oral antibiotic and probably some eye drops. I’d see your eye doctor as soon as you can
It doesn’t even need to be new medicine. You can have a reaction to any medicine, even one you’ve taken for a long time. Did you take an antibiotic in the last month? Also it can take a while to appear or sometimes you have to take many dosages of it.
Hi all, after several years of chronic allergy, i have found something that makes a difference. I am talking about a low histamine diet, i am not a medic and i can’t explain why eating histamine rich foods accentuate allergies, but it does in my case, for more information about what foods to avoid google
level 2 Yes, and without the supervision of doctors there is a big probability it’s fatal 😔 but knowing is making every easy 😊
I’ve been really suffering during this terrible spate of wildfires on the west coast of the US. My allergies are terrible, and this may be in part due to the nickel content of wildfire smoke. “Several studies have detailed the remobilization of metals from fire events (e.g., Finley et al. 2009; Nriagu 1989; Odigie and
There have been efforts to document the effect of antibiotics on the immune system since the 80s, not much has come out of it…big pharma doesn’t want evidence that antibiotics cause harm beyond stating the required info about the hazards of antibiotics. I have seen older abstracts about antibiotics killing different immune system factors (T
Try taking a nasal steroid like Flonase in addition to the antihistamines. Make sure to use it daily; it takes some time for it to work. For the itchy eyes, I recommend an eye drop like Pataday or Zaditor. Wear a mask when you’re out gardening. Glasses are also helpful. When you come inside, all
old post here https://reddit.com/r/Allergies/comments/ihntus/i_have_had_no_known_food_allergies_for_my_entire/ After further exploration of 1. eating each part of the sandwich individually. and 2. re-creating the sandwich at home. What I have found out is it’s the baguette that gives me hives on my upper lip. I even recreated the sandwich at home and the only identical ingredient was the bread
I saw your post about AR. I lived in the Southern US all my life & started getting bad allergies to the pollen. Brain fog, headaches, chronic congestion, all of it. Turbinate reduction surgery helped the congestion, but didn’t eliminate it. After more than a year taking numerous medications to combat my symptoms & a

I made a few posts on here asking for advice, and I got many responses which is appreciated. For 3 months, my nose was half clogged, mostly at night, unable to sleep through the night, leading to bad fatigue in the day. I was becoming obsessive, if there was mold in my walls, if I
Hi, does anybody know is this? Recently I develop this red rash in my body. There is no blister and it’s not that itchy. I will see doctor on Wednesday, before that I’m just want to know what it is. Please let me know if you guys know. https://imgur.com/a/CZebw54
I have been taking these for almost nine months but not really noticed any improvement. Also in the morning I notice a build up of mucus in the back of my throat which I spit out. This has been going on for years Something like in the pictures here. I have the same thing a
Which part of the nose exactly do I aim the tip of the nasal spray bottle to get the liquid into my nose instead of dripping out ? The instructions videos on YouTube only go as far as to tilt the bottle to avoid spraying on to the middle of the nose but where exactly
Hey. I have two cats (well, three now) and I am moderately allergic. I keep the cats because I love them very much and they are better for me mentally than the damage they do to me. Here is what I recommend: First, set up your room as a no cat zone. Bummer, I know.
Hi all! My ex girlfriend was allergic to oranges. Every time I went to get groceries for her I would have to check the ingredient list to check for oranges or derivatives. When Corona started I was stuck home for a few weeks so I decided to build an app that quickly scans the ingredient
I agree with the previous comments, but it’s also important to note that the ‘scratch’ test isn’t as precise as blood tests. Many factors can cause false negatives/positives and the number in mm of your hive is also in correlation with the strength of your immune system that day. (Note that false negatives are more
Ouch, i am sorry to hear that. I have sort of a similar problems and that’s partly the reason why i bought it. It’s also comes with an ionization function. The product i called Electrolux Pure A9. It’s both effective and nice looking. The only downside is the price of the filters. They costs ca
Yes this is significant swelling. Treat it with Benadryl cream or hydrocortisone cream. You should also take a Benadryl pill . If the swelling doesn’t go down by Monday I’d let your doctor know and I’d definitely mention it the next time you get shots either way. Maybe talk to them about a Benadryl flush
Be careful if you notice it getting worse at all. I felt the same about bananas “Sure, I get itchy but I love them so much, I can deal with it” and kept eating them until eating banana bread makes me itchy and eating a whole banana makes me feel flu-ish for half a day.
